Scott Coleman is a quiet man who has come to the aid of a sick young
girl. His story will remind you of another Someone who has come to your
aid.
Scott guides his twin engine Cessna into Bostons Logan Airport. Six
year old Erika Carlson squeals with excitement. Were about to land!
Erika was born with a life threatening disease. For years shes had to
travel from Maine to Boston several times a year. The 12 hour drive
became too draining for Erika and her parents. Thats when Scott
stepped in.
An amateur pilot, he volunteered to fly Erika to Boston. Each trip
comes at a great sacrifice to him. In addition to his time, the trip
costs $1200. But since Scott knows Erika desperately needs the
treatment, he is willing to make the sacrifice.
Doesnt this remind you of someone else who helped sick little girls?
In fact, he came to help all of us. When we needed someone to step in
and help us get to the treatment we desperately needed, Jesus
volunteered to take the journey. Ephesians 5 says, Christ loved us and
gave himself up for us as a
sacrifice to God.
Theres nothing we can do to earn this rescue or deserve it. Like
little Erika, all we can do is receive it with joy and excitement.
I hope you have a received this gift and are following Jesus every day.
Only Jesus can heal our sin-sick souls and guide us to our heavenly
home.
