According to the words of Myron Magnet, the social critic, money is the benchmark of success in our culture. Do you believe that?
Jesus once told a story with a very different point of view (Luke 12:15-21):
The farm of a certain rich man produced a terrific crop. He talked with himself: What can I do? My barn isnt big enough for this harvest. Then he determined, This is what Ill do, Ill tear down my barns and build bigger barns. Then Ill gather in all my grain and goods and Ill say to myself, Self, youve done well and you can now retire! Take it easy and have the time of your life. Just then, God showed up and said, Fool, tonight you will die. Who will get your barn full of goods?
Thats what happens when you fill your barn with self and not with God! When we tend to measure our worth in terms of dollars, remember the words of Jesus: Take care. Protect yourself against the least bit of greed. Life is not defined by what you have, even if you have a lot!
