Her name is Katrina. At the age of 15, she got pregnant. After her baby was born, she confidently boasted that she would finish high school and get a good job. Neither one of those things happened.
Shouldnt we get real about teenage pregnancy? Each year, 350,000 teenage girls have babies outside of marriage. Today, more than 50% of teenagers have had sex by the time they have reached the age of 17. This is not a just a problem among the poor. Its a problem that could come to your house. There are some things that those of us who are parents and grandparents need to do!
The very first thing we must do is pray for our young people. Then we need to educate them. As we do this, we must make sure we teach them that the way of God is the way of wisdom.
Talking to them about sex? Yes! Emphasize that the holy way of God is the only way? Yes! Spending time with them? Yes! Always remaining their friend, steadfast in prayer? Yes! Lets do what we can to fight for our children, helping them know the truth and the way of God and the depth of our love.
