Today's Verse: John 3:17

Monday, December 11, 1961

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

God is not the big Scrooge in the sky, critically looking down on his flawed children, waiting to condemn those who messed up. Instead, he saw how broken, flawed, and messed up we were and entered our world to save it and to save us from ourselves. God's purpose in sending Jesus was to give us lasting life, eternal salvation, and our earthly mission!

My Prayer...

Heavenly Father, deliver us from the sin that entangles our actions and pollutes our hearts. Create in each of us a clean heart and renew a right spirit in us through your Holy Spirit. Awaken us to our salvation so that we do not keep it to ourselves, but share it with those who desperately need it. Thank you for your forgiveness, grace, and salvation. In Jesus' name, we pray with thankfulness and a renewed sense of our purpose. Amen.
