God's Holy Fire: 'I Will Pour Out My Spirit'

Monday, May 12, 2025

[Peter, on Pentecost, quoting God's promise from Joel 2:] "In [the last] days, I will pour out my Spirit even on my servants — men and women alike — and they will prophesy."
— Acts 2:18 NLT

Key Thought

Luke emphasizes in Acts that the coming of the Holy Spirit wasn't to just a select few leaders for a limited time, as was usually the case in the Old Testament. (Also see yesterday's Thought and Acts 2:17.) After the Holy Spirit came and began the "last days" era of God's work, the Spirit now comes to all disciples — young and old, men and women, slave and free, regardless of nationality or race (Galatians 3:26-29; Galatians 4:1-7) and continues with them. All of God's servants have his powerful presence through the Holy Spirit living in them and working through them to reveal the message of God and accomplish his work!

Today's Prayer

Father in heaven, I know you are also the Father within me through the Holy Spirit. Use me to reveal your will and do your work in the present time, with the people you have placed near me, to bring you glory. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
