I ask that your minds may be opened to see his light, so that you will know what is the hope to which he has called you, how rich are the wonderful blessings he promises his people... (Ephesians 1:18, TEV)
Granddaddy died many years ago at age 92. He was a strong and faithful Christian and an inspiration in my life.
I remember the time he lost his wedding band. It had never been off his finger in over 60 years of marriage. He was deeply grieved. For days we all searched for it.
One morning while putting on his socks, he noticed something shining on his big toe. On closer examination he found to his amazement, the lost gold wedding band. Apparently, while bathing, it had slipped unnoticed from his finger to his toe. He was so happy!
I can remember him relating the story with great humor. He had never lost his ring, he had just lost sight of it.
So many in our world are frantically searching for the thing that will make them happy, not knowing that like granddaddies ring, it is in their possession, but they have failed to see Jesus Christ, in whom we find all find all the treasures of heaven.
