Be still, and know that I am God. (Psalm 46: 10 NIV)
Our life is fast. Too fast most of the time. When was the last time you slowed down? Slowed down for the purpose of understanding God a bit better?
I was watching a western movie last night. A man was about to be hung. They put the noose around his neck, threw the rope over a tree, placed him on a horse, threw snakes at the horses feet, and rode away expecting him to die. This man had to be still! And he did what you might expect - he began to talk to God!
It shouldnt take imminent death to get us to talk with our Maker. But all too often it it seems it takes something like that . . . a death, a shooting, a tornado . . . the list goes on and on.
My point? Dont think we are in control, because we arent.
So let me encourage you to slow down and spend some deliberate, quiet time with your God and Savior today.
Lord, let me not get mighty in mind and think I know my destiny. Allow me time to know you and model your actions. Forgive me when I dont, and strengthen me to overcome my obstacles. Thank you for loving and caring for me the way you do. In Jesus name. Amen.
