I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. As you make your requests, plead for God's mercy upon them, and give thanks. Pray this way for kings and all others who are in authority, so that we can live in peace and quietness, in godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, for he wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and people. He is the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message that God gave to the world at the proper time. (1 Timothy 2:1-6>
We urge you to be in prayer.
The United States president, along with many other important governmental leaders, will be selected at the polls on Tuesday November 2, 2004. Many issues are at stake. We urge you to be in prayer for this process, as well as for the leaders of our world. We want God's will to be done, His Word to be spread, and His people to be used to glorify Him as a result of this and other elections going in the world over the next few months.
So all this week, Heartlight is asking folks to pray for their nation — we have people from over 180 different nations in our online Heartlight family. We're asking you to pray for free elections in the nations of the world, to pray for our hearts to be open to God's work among the nations, and to pray for God to exercise His sovereign will to do what is best for bringing people all over the world into His fold of grace! We will only be publishing Scripture text for our daily articles this week. We encourage you to use these messages from the Word of God to be your starting point for prayer.
