Drawing Near to God:

Welcome! We are delighted that you joined us for ToGather.church. What follows is our home worship guide for you, along with your friends, family, home group, or house church. Our theme today comes from Deuteronomy 7:26 and challenges us not to bring what is detestable — what is unholy, corrupted, evil, vile, and putrid — into our homes, but to keep them holy places for God to live and influence all who share life with us. (More information about ToGather.church is available here.)

As we draw near to God, let's commit to having him purify our hearts so we can live out our holy calling:

But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God's very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.

Once you had no identity as a people;
now you are God's people.
Once you received no mercy;
now you have received God's mercy.

Dear friends, I warn you as "temporary residents and foreigners" to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls. Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world. (1 Peter 2:9-12 NLT).

While we long to be holy as our Father in heaven is holy, we struggle with living our lives fully set apart to honor God. We long to show our Father that we love him with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and yet we sometimes dishonor him and ignore our call to love our neighbors. Let's draw near to God and give him our thanks for the healing and freedom he offers us, as we sing "Broken Vessels (Amazing Grace)" led by Hillsong Worship.

Keeping our Hearts and Houses Holy for God:

As we prepare our hearts for today's message that challenges us to be holy, let's offer ourselves to God through Lauren Daigle's song, "Here's My Heart Lord":

Phil's message, "Don't Make What Is Detestable Digestible," and our Verse of the Day come from Deuteronomy 7:26.

Welcome to the Table of the Lord:

We all struggle with sin, so the Father sent Jesus to be the sin offering for us. As we prepare for Holy Communion, let's recognize our need for Jesus as our Savior and sing, "Lord, I Need You," with the Zoe Group:

Byron Ware reminds us of the special gifts we have received and have given to others. He emphasizes three elements that make such gifts very special. No gift, however, is as precious as the gift of Jesus, and we remember that gift in Holy Communion today!

Because of the special gifts we have just remembered in the Lord's Supper, we can joyfully sing Matt Maher's song, "Because He Lives," led by the Zoe Group:

Our Closing Blessing:

Phil leads us in our closing blessing from Jude 1:24-25, a passage that reassures us that God helps us stand in holiness before his throne:

To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy — to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power, and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen. (Jude 1:24-25).

We conclude our time of worship today by singing that, because of Jesus, we are "Redeemed," led by Big Daddy Weave:
