The apostle Paul emphasized that Christ was the end of the Law. He wasn't, however, abolishing the importance, nor the undergirding principles revealed in the Law. Jesus came and fulfilled those. Instead, Paul was emphasizing that we are declared righteous by trying to be justified by the Law. Instead, as we have faith in Jesus and pursue his will and obey his example and teachings, the Holy Spirit transforms us to be more than the Law could have ever achieved in us (2 Corinthians 3:1-18).
Our Verse of the Day comes from Romans 10:4 and the surrounding context:
Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness. Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes (Romans 10:1-4).
Demetrius has several songs that emphasize God's grace and Jesus' blessings for us — most importantly, Jesus became sin for us so that we could become the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21). Byron Ware shares a communion reflection focused on Jesus as our greatest gift. Phil closes us with an encouraging blessing from Jude 24-25.
We invite all who worship on Sunday in the Eastern Hemisphere and all who keep Sabbath and celebrate Sunday beginning at 6:00 p.m. on ordinary Saturday evening to join us.
