We're glad you joined us for ToGather.church! We pray that our time in song, prayer, Communion, praise, and Scripture will bless you. No matter where you are, please know that God's people from all around the world are joining you in this time of special worship. (Find out more.)
Opening with Praise in Word and Song:
We begin our ToGather worship today by reminding each other of the the "Firm Foundation" on which we are building our lives. Let's join Nashville Life Music as we sing:
Our Verse of the Day and our emphasis for ToGather today is on trusting God to guide our paths:
Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways [acknowledge him and] submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
(Proverbs 3:5-6)
Focusing on the Scriptures:
To prepare our hearts to receive a message from this great passage in the Old Testament, let's join the Zoe Group in singing "Ancient Words":
While Phil's message today is shorter than usual, he wants us to hear clearly that we must seek God's way, follow God's will, and trust him if our paths are going to lead us where we need to go:
We trust God because he will and already has "Made A Way" to find the path he has for us. Let's join Travis Greene in placing our trust in God to lead us forward no matter what the world and the evil one throw in front of us:
Sharing The Supper:
We trust God because he is faithful through every battle, heartbreak, and circumstance. God is the one in whom we place our trust. Let's sing and proclaim with Pat Barrett that God sent Jesus to be "The Way," and use this song to help prepare us for our Communion time:
Phil takes a few minutes to remind us what it means for us to covenant with Jesus and live in the way of the cross:
Closing with Praise:
One of the great confessions of trust in God to guide our steps and lead us down the right paths is Psalm 23. Let's share in this psalm by using this adaptation as our prayer and confession of faith:
You have me lie down in green pastures to nourish me and give me rest;
you lead me beside quiet waters to still my soul;
you refresh me, both body and soul.
You guide me along the right paths
for the glory of your holy name.
Even when I have to walk through the darkest valleys,
I will fear no evil.
Thank you for always being with me;
your rod and your staff guide me and bring me your comfort.
You prepare a table of victory before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me, dear God,
all the days of my life,
and I am confident that I will dwell your house, dear LORD, forever.
I thank you through the power of Jesus' name. Amen.
We conclude by joining Bethel Music in the declaration that, as we trust in the LORD, he is our "Way Maker":
May the presence of God real to you as you walk in his paths!
