Welcome! This is ToGather.church. We pray our time sharing songs, prayers, Communion, praise, and Scripture will bless you as you join God's people from all around the world in this time of special worship. (Find out more about ToGather.)
Opening with Praise in Word and Song:
We begin our ToGather worship with a prayer from Eldon Degge, adapted from 1 Thessalonians 5:23:
I present my body to you, O Lord. Give it health, energy, and stamina. Give it healing, as needed.
I present my soul, my personality to you, my God. Impress on it the characteristics that honor you and are pleasing to other people for their good.
I present my spirit to you, dear God. May I be wholly joined to you, one spirit with the Lord.
In Jesus' precious and glorious name. Amen.
We want God to fashion and shape us — heart, soul, body, and mind. We base our identity on who God says we actually are in Christ. Let's sing "Who You Say I Am" with Hillsong to remind ourselves of this identity and our commitment to having God shape our lives based on his view of us and not the world's view:
Focusing on the Scriptures:
As we worship together, our freedom to find life in Jesus and the Holy Spirit is our emphasis in ToGather today!
Our Verse of the Day comes from Romans 8:1-2
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.
We do not have to live in fear. Our lives are shaped, and our futures are assured through the work of the Holy Spirit and the redemption that Jesus provided for us. Let's celebrate this freedom from fear by singing "No Longer Slaves" with Bethel Music, featuring Jonathan David and Melissa Helser:
Phil's message helps us understand how we are free from trying to be made righteous through law-keeping and are instead made righteous by Jesus and empowered by the Holy Spirit to become more like Jesus each day:
Our lives began fresh and new when we believed in Jesus as our Lord and Savior, shared in his saving death, burial, and resurrection through baptism, and were filled with the Holy Spirit. We are free! Let's sing this truth with Seth Condrey and Northpoint InsideOut using the song "Death Was Arrested":
Sharing The Supper:
Jesus' saving sacrifice bought our freedom. He did what we could not do, and he did it for us because of his great love for each of us. Let's sing the emotive and convicting song, "How Deep the Father's Love for Us" with Selah:
Fred Spain shares a passionate and focused Communion reflection to remind us of what Jesus has done to free us from sin and the separation that it causes between us and God:
Closing with Praise and Blessing:
We are free because God longed to bring us back into a relationship with him even though it was our sin that separated us from him. God is our hero and Savior. He kept his promise to redeem us from sin, death, and hell. God is our "Way Maker," and we sing his praises with Leeland:
Phil closes our time of ToGather worship with a blessing from the Scriptures that remind us that God is able to ensure our eternal future:
God bless us all as we seek to live into the freedom that Jesus has provided for us so that others can see his grace in our lives.
