Welcome to this week's ToGather.church. Our focus comes from our Verse of the Day, Psalm 42:8:

By day the LORD directs his love,
at night his song is with me —
a prayer to the God of my life.

We trust that you will be blessed by our time in the Scriptures with Phil's message video on our Verse of the Day. For our time in worship in our full worship video, our songs were chosen by Demetrius, the Communion reflection and closing blessing are led by Fred Spain, Phil shares his message with us, and we pray together. Let's worship!

Your Father in heaven wants you to invite him to permeate every moment of every day of your life, including having your heart tuned to God as you sing night songs while you sleep!

Phil's video message is based on Psalm 42:8 and encourages us to tune our hearts to God's song of love, joy, and presence in our lives. Phil points us to the three key phrases in this verse:

  1. By day the Lord directs his love...
  2. ...at night his song is with me...
  3. ...a prayer to the God of my life.
  4. As you integrate these practices into your life, we believe you will experience the nearness and grace of our Father!

Phil's Message for This Week

To go with the three phrases of this verse, Phil points us to three practical applications so we can integrate their truths into our lives:

  1. Look for God's touches of love in our daily lives.
  2. Ask the Holy Spirit to bring us God's night songs.
  3. Pray without ceasing to the God who blesses us and fills us with his life. [1]

As you integrate these practices into your life, we believe you will experience the nearness and grace of our Father!

Full ToGather Worship Video

The full worship video leads us to open our hearts to God and his love as we pray, sing, have a lesson from God's word, share the Lord's Supper, and share a closing blessing. We pray the Holy Spirit fills and empowers you as we worship!

[1] In addition to our devoted times of prayer, all of our lives should be considered an open and ongoing prayer "to the God of my life" as our psalm implies. While the phrase "pray without ceasing" doesn't come from Psalm 42:8, Phil refers to it in his video message referencing 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ESV (and NRSV and the traditional language of the KJV).
