Learning to Forgive
One of our greatest challenges is to forgive those who hurt us deeply. Can
anyone really show us how?
Corrie Ten Boom endured the horror of a Nazi concentration camp. She lost
her own sister there. Years after her release, Corrie spoke about God's
forgiveness.
After her speech, a tall aged man thanked her for showing him that even he
could be forgiven. As Corrie reached out to shake his hand, she suddenly
realized WHO he was -- a malicious guard from the concentration camp.
What would she do? Would she forgive or hate? Reach out or turn away?
She grasped his hand in forgiveness. In place of her anger flowed God's love.
Will you forgive someone who has wounded your soul? God is calling you to
forgive! Jesus says, "When you stand praying, if you hold anything against
anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins."
(See Mark 11:25 in the New Testament)
Forgiving others is crucial to finding your freedom in Christ. Take a
moment and make a list of those who have wounded you deeply. Now pray that the
power of Jesus Christ will help you forgive each one of them. When you forgive
from the heart, you'll witness God's grace doing some powerful healing in your
own heart.
