    There are a lot of people today talking about private lives and public deeds. There are other people talking about public lives and private deeds. There is a lot of talk about what we do in public and what we do in private. But beware, be warned, it’s so much easier to talk about someone else and so hard for us to be true and genuine before God!

It is so hard to be true before God.

    Please, don’t misunderstand me. We need heroes today in public life who live who live uprightly, honorably, and truthfully. Some do! Some do not. Recently, a columnist said, “It is essential that people in public view and trust be models of what is noble and moral and holy.” Children watch and either lose hope or gain inspiration. Adults watch and either become cynical or gain aspiration. And God watches and either cries or lifts up his countenance upon us.

    Jesus said it this way: “Not everyone who says to me to ‘Lord, Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of heaven. Only those who do the will of my heavenly Father.” So to glorify God, let’s remember that what is done in public, and in private, must please God!
