Archibald Hart was 12 years of age when his mother told him that there was going to be a divorce and his mom and dad were no longer going to live together. His writings about children of divorce, because of his own experience, have so greatly helped me as I have dealt with parents as they reared their children without one spouse in the home.

It felt like the end of the world!

Arch said that his mother kept telling him, “It’s not the end of the world!” But to him, it felt like the end of the world! He had to survive in a home with less income, experience the loss of his neighborhood home, and many other changes. And these changes were only on the exterior! Inside, in his heart where everything needed to be secure and stable, Arch said everything was coming apart.
