Late News Update -- October 20, 1997
News about Gail continues to be encouraging. She has had some
movement in both her right are and right leg and has been able to
communicate some verbally. Life is still extremely difficult for her
and Randy is working hard to help her. While continuing positive
signs have been extremely encouraging, there is a long road ahead as she
deals with the damage caused by the tumor and the chemo. Please pray
that the latest therapies continue to bring her increasing improvement,
that her health be protected while she is vulnerable to infection, that
Randy's health improve and remain strong, and that God will heal Gail and
be glorified.
Late News Update -- October 1, 1997
We have exciting news to pass on. Gail had an MRI today. It has been two
months since the last MRI and the really bad spell that put Gail in a
coma. It is apparent from the "pictures" that significant
changes have occurred since that crisis point and today. The coma and the
crisis were do to the tumor's growth and Gail's brain swelling. The
treatments for inflamation and prayers by thousands of people helped pull
her through that crisis. Today, the tumor looks much different than
before. -- much less distinct with hollow places in it. There are a number
of possibilities for what this may mean, one of which is that the tumor
could be dying. We ask everyone to specifically pray that the tumor
continue to die and the cancer be overcome and God be glorified through
Gail's recovery.
Gail has begun a new round of chemotherapy at a
lower dosage level, so in addition to healing, pray for her protection --
that her platelet level improves and that she be protected from any
secondary illnesses or infections. At this time Gail is able to respond "Yes"
to questions, but is having some vision and paralysis problems continue.
While these complications are serious, they are reversible if the tumor
dies. In addition, her condition is very much improved over the October 1
report. Please redouble your prayer efforts. Thank you!
Late News Update -- September 16, 1997
Things have gotten better in the last two and half weeks. Gail has been able to get up, go to the table, eat, and some of her speech has returned. Of course her sense of humor is always with her despite the terrific challenges. Her pain is abated at the last report from family. Please continue to pray for healing. There is a loyal bunch that haven't given up on a mighty act of grace! We will try to keep fresh updates every two weeks, or as warranted. All information comes through family members. Please keep them in your prayers as well, especially Randy and Gail's parents who have been such incredible servants to their children, grandchildren, and the circle of love that surrounds the Fenters. May God's grace and power rest upon us all.
Late News Update -- August 28, 1997
Much of the family has gone to be with Gail. She has stabilized some since last night and recognizes family and can respond to them. To know ones surprise, she smiles when someone cracks a joke and squeezes their hand to respond. Of course things are very tough, but Randy has put everyone to work on projects when they are not spending time with Gail. The family appreciates your love, support and prayers.
Late News Update -- August 27, 1997
Gail slipped into a near coma state Tuesday evening and the situation appears very grave. Randy is caring for her with the help of a nurse and friends from Golf Course Road Church of Christ. Wednesday afternoon, many of the extended family left to go be with Randy and the girls. Please keep the whole family in your prayers. We will be updating things based upon latest information given us from the family and the GCR church family.
Late News Update -- August 1
As of August 1, things have taken a very decided turn for the worse in Gail's condition. They are in Dallas looking at treatment alternatives, all of which are very extreme. The tumors are growing again and have had significant physical impact on Gail's speech and balance. Randy's problem with the "ringing" or "drilling sound" in his ears has also become quite severe. This is a time when we need to surround the family with love and prayer. For information, please check with the Golf Course Road Church of Christ. Thank you for your love and concern.
As Randy has often said, "Thank you for all of your prayers. We live by them. You are part of a network which keeps us alive and hopeful. We thank God for you. We can't do without you."
