God's Holy Fire: 'Complete!'

Wednesday, August 26, 2026

After he took the wine, Jesus said, "It's done ... complete." Bowing his head, he offered up his spirit.

Key Thought

Jesus died because he allowed himself to die: "[H]e offered up his spirit." He had completed what God had called him to do! Can we do that? Can we accomplish what God wants to do through us? I believe with the help of the Holy Spirit we can (2 Corinthians 3:17-18). We can because one of the great promises we have is that the Spirit will not leave us (John 14:16-18) - even death does not separate us from our Lord, and the Holy Spirit who was involved in Jesus' resurrection will also be active in our own resurrection.

Today's Prayer

Father, thank you! Thank you for Jesus and the price he paid! Thank you for the Spirit who lives in me and is working to make me more like Jesus every day. Thank you for the Spirit who is your ongoing presence in me and who will give life to my resurrection body that will not be subject to decay. In Jesus' name, I praise you. Amen.
