[In his revelation to John, Jesus said,] "Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it."
— Revelation 2:17 NIV
Key Thought
The Spirit speaks to Jesus' churches and to Jesus' kingdom people. The Spirit reminds us that no matter how difficult our challenges may be, we will be sustained through struggles, affirmed as innocent, proven victorious, and given a new name. We live in a world of disease, destruction, decay, and death. Because of Jesus, however, the Holy Spirit assures us of new beginnings and everlasting life and eternal victory. This assurance is especially important when we face trials, temptations, and persecutions. And living in a broken world, we know these difficulties will come to all of us at one time or another. So isn't it powerful that the Spirit promises us a better future and lives in us to guarantee that better future?!
Today's Prayer
Almighty God, my Abba Father, thank you for your promises! Thank you for the Living Promise, the Holy Spirit, who dwells within me. I want to hear the Spirit's voice of hope and respond with faithfulness as I await the unfolding glory that is guaranteed by the Spirit's presence. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
