God's Holy Fire: 'Made Holy in Every Way'

Monday, November 9, 2026

Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again.

Key Thought

Yesterday, we were reminded of the Spirit's power to help us overcome sin, including strongly rooted sin and addictive sin. Today, we see a prayer from Paul for new followers of Jesus. These people had been convicted by the Holy Spirit and made holy by the Holy Spirit when they came to Christ as Lord (1 Thessalonians 1:4-5; 2 Thessalonians 2:13 NLT). Paul now reminds them, through prayer, that they can be holy in every way and kept blameless for the Lord Jesus' second coming. We also need this reminder, and we need to pray this prayer for people and let them know we are praying it.

Today's Prayer

O Father in heaven, I pray this prayer of Paul with several people in mind who are dear to me. Please strengthen and empower them through your Spirit. May you, the God of peace, make them holy in every way so that their whole spirit and soul and body will be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again. It is in his name that I pray. Amen.
