While we are not to have our faithfulness determined by our circumstances, we also need to know that God is at work in our world "conditioning" it to make ready for the Gospel. His timing is everything! His work at preparing people, cultures, and circumstance for the advancement of the Gospel is heralded throughout Scripture. God has been working in our time to make it ready for his Gospel in specific ways. It is our responsibility to seize the moment to do what God has prepared his Church to do in his time!

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. ... I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that men will revere him. Ecclesiastes 4:11, 14
