In the days when the judges ruled in Israel, a severe famine came upon the land. So a man from Bethlehem in Judah left his home and went to live in the country of Moab, taking his wife and two sons with him. The man’s name was Elimelech, and his wife was Naomi. Their two sons were Mahlon and Kilion. They were Ephrathites from Bethlehem in the land of Judah. And when they reached Moab, they settled there.
— Ruth 1:1-2 NLT

Today's Prayer

Lord, as I look at the map and see how close Moab was to Bethlehem, it dawns on me that there was a famine in Israel, but NOT in Moab, which was only a few miles away, and it makes me realize how we are ALL dependent upon Your provision for everything we need to survive. You command the rain and the clouds. You are King of all. Help me to be thankful for all the ways You provide. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
