A person whose mind is set on a goal can often conquer any obstacle. In 1879, Thomas Edison proved this true by illuminating the world with his invention of the light bulb. Edison had spent $40,000 on 1,200 experiments. In the nineteenth century, $40,000 was not easy to come by, and 1,200 failures would be discouraging to even the most determined person. His determination brought light into almost every home in the world.
The Christian parallels that of Mr. Edisons accomplishment. Jesus reminds in Matthew 5:16 Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in Heaven.
My question for you today is: will you take hold of opportunities to illuminate the world with the light of God? Just as Mr. Edisons society longed for a better way to light the darkness, our world is straining their eyes for a way to light their lives.
