In our office we send and receive faxes on a regular basis. It is good to
be able to receive mail or send mail instantaneously. And although the fax
machine may seem like a modern invention, it was really created and
invented in 1925. It took 39 years before the facsimile machine would come
into common use. AT&T pioneered the transmission system, but years passed
before it became practical.
It may be the same for people exposed to God's Word. They may have heard
the Gospel message for the first time years and years ago, but really
didn't act on it until later in life. This week, I encountered a woman who
heard of God's kindness, mercy, and forgiveness 25+ years ago, but it
wasn't until this week she saw how practical and helpful that forgiveness
came. With tears and testimony she embraced the forgiveness of our Lord
and walked away renewed.
As you are exposed to God's Word, please let it work in your life in a
practical way. After all, God's Word is the comprehensive equipment of the
man of God "so that the man of God may be adequately equipped for every
good work" (2 Timothy 3:17).
