For years the gang of "The Little Rascals" entertained audiences with the
antics of kids being kids. In one episode, Spanky McFarland and the gang
were playing "Army". Colonel Spanky, however, was having trouble with the
decorum of his troops. After repeatedly being snobbed as Superior Officer,
he finally blurted out: "What this army needs is more salutin'!"
There's another army that "needs more salutin'". The Bible says in Hebrews
13:24, "salute all them that have the rule over you, and all the saints'".
Salute is defined as "a greeting-- a show of respect." In service, one
salutes a superior rank as a show of respect.
Paul even takes it a step further. He advises us to "Honor one another
above yourselves." We need to show respect to everyone, whether it's a
gesture, greeting, or attitude.
