There is a story that is told of a small church that was getting ready for its annual Christmas play. The boy who was going to play the part of Joseph fell sick and had to call in at the last minute to say that he would not be available for the play.
Someone asked the director of the play what they were going to do now that the actor that was going to play Joseph was sick. She said, "Well, the only thing I know to do is just write him out of the script."
Unfortunately, many people in today's world do the same thing with Christ during the holiday season. Sure, they remember the tree to decorate and the presents to purchase, but the true reason for the season is omitted from significance.
The writer in Hebrews 12:3 simply wrote, "Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men..." May we never neglect to consider the birth of our Savior during this holiday season and the price He ultimately paid. Let us celebrate this Christmas without writing Jesus out of the script.
