[I, Paul, and our brother Timothy] also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light.
— Colossians 1:11-12 NLT

Key Thought

How do we help people endure and survive the long, hard haul we call life? We pray for them and let them know we are praying for them! We have seen that answer several times in our relationship verses this year. Paul prayed that the Colossians would have the endurance and patience they needed. But notice, he added:

  • A quick-burst prayer-blessing: May you be filled with joy.
  • A clear directive for their spiritual life: May you always give thanks.
  • A reminder of their secure identity in Jesus: May you be confident in your future glory.

Now, let's go away from today's relationship verses by believing, sharing, and living into these straightforward and powerful truths!

Today's Prayer

O God, please bless me as I seek to believe, practice, and share these truths. Guide me as I seek to treat my brothers and sisters in Christ as Your precious and eternal children. Forgive me when I focus on what's wrong around me rather than rejoicing in all You have done for me. Dear Father, thank You for the assurance that I belong to You and Your family and that I will share in Your glory. Because of Jesus, I offer this prayer of thanks and commitment. Amen.
