[John the Baptizer said to his disciples,] "And anyone who believes in God's Son has eternal life. Anyone who doesn't obey the Son will never experience eternal life but remains under God's angry judgment."

Key Thought

God sent Jesus to save us. Faith in God's Son is our doorway to life. However, John reminds us that faith is not just what we THINK. True faith always leads us to obedient ACTION. So when we don't believe (when we don't obey), we shut ourselves off from life. Jesus not only has all authority (as we saw in yesterday's devotional), but he longs to give us life. Let's respond to him with obedient faith and enjoy the blessings of God's life.

Today's Prayer

Glorious Father, thank you for sending Jesus to give me life. I do believe that your Son, Jesus, came to be my Savior by dying for my sin on the cross. I believe you raised him from the dead to ensure my future. I believe that he poured out the Holy Spirit. And, dear Father, I believe he is returning in glory to bring the redeemed home to be with you. So please help me as I try to live in obedience to Jesus, my Lord, in whose name I pray. Amen.
