[Jesus said,] "For the Son of Man will come with his angels in the glory of his Father and will judge all people according to their deeds. And I tell you the truth, some standing here right now will not die before they see the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom."
— Matthew 16:27-28 NLT

Key Thought

The story of Jesus doesn't end with the cross. Because his story doesn't end there, neither does the story of his followers. Jesus will return. Everyone will be judged by him. For those who have followed him, who have surrendered to his lordship, his coming is much anticipated. With longing, we as his disciples await that day because it will be the vindication of our faith.

We give our allegiance to a crucified Messiah and are part of an upside down Kingdom because we believe that Jesus died, was buried, was raised, now lives with power, and one day will return with the angels for us. When all the stories are over and the last chapter is read, we will be with Jesus and share in his victory.

Today's Prayer

Almighty God, I confess to you that it is hard for me to wait. I don't like putting things off, and I surely don't like to wait. Please give me more patience and a deeper inner conviction of and longing for the return of Jesus. I pray in my Lord's name. Amen.
