We’re living in a world of bifocals and trifocals and binoculars and microscopes and radio telescopes—seeing from every distance and angle is pretty important to us Americans.

    I heard a car salesman say the other day that he “sizes people up” by looking at their watches and shoes. I guess somebody with an expensive watch and high-quality shoes is a good prospect.

    Jesus looks at different things to size people up. He their hearts, their souls, their inner selves, and these are the things of value to him. We desperately need to be seen and loved for who we are on the inside, and who we can become through love and grace and mercy.

    Thank God that’s how Jesus sees us! He can help us see others the same way too.
