Did you know that more Americans got married in 1946 than in any other twelve-month period before or since? And the amazing thing is those marriages stuck! In fact, USA Today referred to them as the Stick-Together Generation.
But why 1946? Well, World War Two had just ended and these people had been through the heart of the depression and the war and they had learned from the University of Hard Knocks. They had seen friends maimed or killed in the war, they had experienced deprivation and inconvenience and danger throughout their formative years.
So its no surprisewith that kind of backgroundthat when they got married they decided if they could come through those kind of things, they were also willing to face the problems it took to make their marriages work. They could hang in there. It has a lot to do with the attitude with which you commit yourself to marriage.
