    “I’ve learned,” said one 46 year old man, “that you can get by on charm for about 15 minutes, and after that you better know something!” How right he is!

    Unfortunately, we seem to over-value people who look great and ooze charm. We gravitate to them and give them our attention—until they open their mouths and nothing intelligent comes out. Ever met one of those folks? They’ve gotten by so well in life with their appearance, they’ve never had to work at knowing anything.

    As the writer of Proverbs 31 says, “Charm is deceitful and beauty is fleeting.” And in the third chapter he says, “Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding.” That’s where it is!

    We may not all have good looks and charm, but God gives wisdom and understanding to everyone who asks him.
