Oh, For a Faith That Heals! Thats the title of a recent mental medicine update about a study by Thomas Oxman Associates. The study found that patients undergoing open-heart surgery who receive strength and comfort from religion were three times more likely to survive than those who had no comfort from faith!
Responding to the article, Everett Koop, former Surgeon General, made this statement:
People who have faith have a different world view from those who do not have faith. The believe in the sovereignty of a God who makes no mistakes. And they believe, as Robert Browning expressed, Our times are in His hands. Trust God. See all. Dont be afraid.
A connection like this to our Father in Heaven is not only good for the soul, its good for the body as well.
