Rhondas voice on the phone had a hard ring to it. She was extremely upset. As our conversation unfolded, I discovered deep emotional wounds that were fueling her anger. The most intense emotional pain often arises from within our own families. We expect to be nurtured by our parents, and it hurts us badly when they wound us.
Rhonda knows this pain well. She was raised in a religious home. Her step father was a pillar in the church. But behind closed doors, it was a different storybeatings, emotional abuse, and even threats on her life. As a young teen, she ran away. She ran away from God, away from her family, and away from her church family.
Recently, Rhonda returned to God and to her spiritual family. She is on a wonderful path to emotional and spiritual healing. Maybe this kind of pain, from horrible experiences has pushed you away from your trust in God. I want you to know, there is hope in the person of Jesus Christ.
Remember this (Isaiah 43): Forget the former things, dont dwell on the past. I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland. Christ CAN rebuild your heart and release you from the past into the refreshing presence of God.
Are you presently experiencing a new life? God's word says, "if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!"
This new life is a free gift of God through faith in Jesus Christ. If you want to know more about this life that only Jesus can give you, sign up for one of our Bible courses. Wherever you are in life, whatever you've done, you can begin again.
