People often ask me, “Paul, what one thing do you recommend more than any other to make marriage communication beautiful?” I think my one best answer is “conversational prayer.”

    Couple prayer is meaningful conversation between a couple addressed to God. It takes a duet and makes it a trio. Prayer gives more insights into your spouse—and into yourself—than you can imagine. In prayer you can hear the heartbeat, the cares, the tears; any troubles in your marriage are presented before God. But it’s not easy. Be careful about moving into this too quickly. Some folks feel very uneasy about this, so move very slowly and sensitively at first.

    So make the rest of the day a little better. Try praying together regularly, sensitively. Just try it.
